Burundi to host the 16th edition of the SICA Festival

The “Stars de l’Intégration Culturelle Africaine” (SICA) is a competition that gives a chance to African musicians to display their songs with a special focus to culture. It was launched in 2000 under the initiative of a Beninese artist.

When Burundi took part in the festival for the first time, we were represented by Steven SOGO and he got a prize. In the following years, many other singers have participated in the festival, although some of them could not win prizes. Natacha, Nkundabantu, Shazzi Cool, Emerence Emy, Bernice the Bell and Albert Kulu are some of those who have taken part in the festival.

This year, the 16th edition of the festival will be hosted in Burundi, with more than 15 countries expected to attend. Each participating country will send one delegate and the winner will be announced on November 6th, 2022 at the end of the festival which will run from November 1st, 2022.

On the host’s side, Steven SOGO and Natacha have been nominated as ambassadors to oversee the Festival. Indundi Magazine will keep you updated on the event advancements such as registration process, registered candidates, their countries of origin and the place.
