Comedy is a profession like others

Mr Michael, one of Burundi’s famous comedians, observes that comedy is not yet given its proper value. He believes that the first step would be the recognition of comedy as a profession job that can help someone lead a decent life. He estimates that such a recognition would see comedians well paid as compared to the current state of affairs.

He also reminded the need for appropriate places to host comedians so as to allow new comers to the industry to train and develop their talent. And this could contribute to both their own well-being and the country’s development.

His observations are rooted in deep experience as he has won comedy prize that he even presented to the Late President Pierre NKURUNZIZA.
