This Monday, July 25, 2022, 43 children who were begging and stealing in the city of Gitega were reunited with their families after a period of supervision and teaching of trades in a rehabilitation center in Songa. Each family received an envelope of two hundred thousand francs.

According to Bigirimana Gilbert, in charge of the reintegration of street children in their families within the International Rescue Committee, this sum will help these families in the implementation of the trades and professions learned in order to make them profitable.

The Governor of Gitega province, Venant Manirambona, thanked the families who agreed to reintegrate these children and encouraged them to supervise their children, given that there is one who escaped this center, as they were 44 at the beginning. To facilitate the task of these families, each child has benefited from 10 kg of palm oil, 10 kg of rice, 10 kg of flour, 12 soaps and 5 kg of sugar.
