In the near future, Burundi will be possess a stadium with international standards. This was announced this tuesday, september 20, 2022 when the authorities of the Burundi Federation of Football met to discuss the rehabilitation of Intwari Stadium in order to host international events.
Arcade Nimubona, second vice-president of the the Burundi Football Federation, indicated that activities of rehabilitation will be launched no later than one week to come. The rehabilitation project is expected to be completed within the coming 8 months, he added.
This project comes as a redeemer, as Burundi had been hosting foreign teams in Tanzania, having to pay 20 millions Tanzanian shillings to rent the stadium, which was a huge loss.
