President Ndayishimiye returns from TICAD

Back from Tunisia where he took part in the 8th Edition of TICAD, the Head of State revealed this Monday, August 29 that this mission was an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation relations between Burundi, Japan and other African countries.

Indeed, the President of the Republic indicated that during this Tokyo International Summit for the Development of Africa, a financing of 30 billions dollars was approved for the development of Africa, a project that extends over a period of three years.

“We met with the Japanese Minister of External Relations, Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, to assess together the state of our relations and present him with Burundi’s priority projects requiring financial support,” said the President of the Republic. 

He also indicated that these projects include the construction of a highway linking the city of Bujumbura and the political capital of Gitega, the construction of 5 vocational training centers to promote technical and vocational training for young people, the integrated development of the coastline of Lake Tanganyika and the construction of a sports complex of international standards.
