Report on the 2020-2021 budget year

This Monday, May 23, 2022, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Domitien Ndihokubwayo, presented to the National Assembly, the report of the State budget year 2020-2021. This is in accordance with the law No. 1/35 of 04/12/2008 which, in itsarticle 56, stipulates that the bill on the verification of the use of the annual budget of the State must be presented to the parliament within a period not exceeding 8 months from the end of the budget year in question.

It is in this perspective that the Government has presented this bill to explain the revenues and expenditures for the budget year 2020-2021.

So this bill was to show how the law number 1/13 of 15 May 2020 wasimplemented. During the budget year 2020-2021, the budgetedrevenues amounted to 1422,810,975,516 Burundian francs while the recorded revenues amounted to 1569,696,696,803 Burundian francs.

This means that the revenues amounted to 110% of the forecast. In the expenditure forecast, there were1576,184,805,156. As there was an increase in revenue, the actual expenditure also increased and amounted to 1694,575,669,578, or 108% of the planned expenditure.
