An improvised visit of the Head of State at the Jiji-Mulembwe hydroelectric construction site

This Tuesday, 1 March 2022, the Head of State, Evariste Ndayishimiye visited the hydroelectric construction site of JIJI-Mulembwe in Bururi province to inquire of the advancements of the activities.

In a meeting organized on the spot with the team of the ORASCOM Company which
is executing the project, the Head of State asked that more mesures be taken so that the delay observed in the advancement of activities be compensated. Activities of execution must be completed within the indicated timeline, said the president.

In fact, this Jiji-Mulembwe hydroelectric project envisages two hydroelectric facilities with a total power of 400.5 megawatts. To this is added the necessary infrastructure for the evacuation of energy in the interconnected Burundian electricity network.

This project is expected to be concluded by the end of next year in 2023.
