While inaugurating two basic schools and a technical high school belonging to the United Methodist Church of Burundi in the Province of Gitega, the Head of State called on the churches to promote the socio-economic development of the country by building at least one school each in five years.
The Ntobwe1 and Ntobwe2 basic schools built after the reunification of the United Methodist Church as pointed out by the President of the Senate and Legal Representative of this church, is a good initiative that should inspire other churches and symbolizes the strength of unity, said President Ndayishimiye.
“I am happy that Burundians are now speaking the same language of peace. I ask my compatriots to realize that together we can accomplish great things,” he said, pleased that these school facilities are the result of the efforts of members of the United Methodist Church, the natives of Ntobwe Hill and others who have supported them materially and financially.
“You are here to learn and then combine the knowledge you have gained with your own intelligence to help exploit the wealth of our country,” said Burundi’s Number One as he gave advice to the students.
These ceremonies which were also enhanced by several high dignitaries were closed by the presentation of certificates to people who have invested more than others in the realization of this project.
