Monaco deny claims they have agreed to sell Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid for £161m

AS Monaco have denied media reports they have agreed to sell forward Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid in a world-record £161m deal.

The 18-year-old French forward has been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs after scoring 26 goals in all competitions last season as Monaco won Ligue 1 and reached the Champions League semi-finals.

But Monaco have told Sky Sports that no deal has been agreed with Real Madrid only a week after saying they were considering asking the French Football League and FIFA to assist in preventing rival clubs from approaching the teenager without their permission.

“To put an end to this unacceptable situation, AS Monaco is considering asking the French Football League and FIFA to open disciplinary procedures against offending clubs,” the statement said. It did not name the clubs involved.

FIFA transfer rules state that “a club intending to conclude a contract with a professional must inform the player’s current club in writing before entering into negotiations with him.”
